Thank you everyone who came out to MassBudget Turns 35! We’re proud of our journey and for having you as members of our community. Also, thank you to City of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu for the official citation in honor of 35 years of dedicated service to the people and families of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a leading think tank advancing equitable policy solutions! "MassBudget remains as committed as ever to using our decades of expertise on economic and fiscal issues to heal and repair from injustices, past and present. We believe that is essential to an equitable future to co-create antiracist policy solutions alongside communities that have been historically excluded from public investments and opportunity.
I do this work in honor of my mother, Antonia Pedraza Massó, who was a paraprofessional in the New Bedford Public Schools–the same schools that I also attended. She loved working with kids, but found herself having to work overtime, day in and day out, barely being able to make ends meet. I do this work for her and us – to ensure that we’re all resourced and able to thrive and have joy."
