To form its legislative and budget priorities, MassBudget listens to over 40 grassroots and community organizations, coalitions, and collaboratives across the state as they identify pressing issues that affect them and ponder strategies and solutions. Equipped with this information and relying on our own research – 39 years of rigorous data and policy analysis that has offered solutions for the Commonwealth’s most pressing challenges – we establish MassBudget’s advocacy priorities for each upcoming legislative session and budget cycle.

Throughout the year, MassBudget staff provide written and oral testimonies to the Legislature about work before specific Committees. These testimonies may be in favor or opposition to proposed legislation, invited testimony on a particular topic, or as a subject matter expert to provide context for the legislation’s impact.
